Terms of Service
Last updated: May 4, 2026
By using DVHelp.ai, you agree to these terms. Read them carefully — they limit our liability and set important boundaries on what this service is and is not.
1. What DVHelp.ai is
DVHelp.ai is a free, AI-assisted tool that helps users prepare the paperwork to file a Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) in any Superior Court of California. We turn answers you provide into draft court forms, including DV-100, CLETS-001, DV-105, FL-105/GC-120, and a Declaration in Support, bundled into a single PDF you can download, print, and file yourself.
2. What DVHelp.ai is not
This is not legal advice. We are not lawyers, and using DVHelp.ai does not create an attorney-client relationship. Nothing on this site should be treated as a substitute for a consultation with a licensed attorney. If you can connect with a free legal-aid attorney, do so — every California county has a legal-aid organization that handles DV cases. The State Bar of California's lawyer referral service is at 1-866-442-2529 (calbar.ca.gov/lrs). In Orange County, Legal Aid Society of Orange County can be reached at 800-834-5001.
- We do not file your forms with the court.
- We do not serve the respondent.
- We do not represent you in court.
- We do not guarantee any particular outcome.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use DVHelp.ai. If you are a minor, please ask a parent, guardian, or guardian ad litem to use the service on your behalf, or contact the Self-Help Center at any California Superior Court.
4. Your responsibilities
- Accuracy. The information you provide must be true and accurate to the best of your knowledge. Filing false statements with a California court is a crime.
- Review before filing. Every form generated by DVHelp.ai is a draft. You are responsible for reading it carefully, correcting any errors, and confirming it represents your situation accurately before filing.
- Account security. Use an email address that only you can access. Do not share your login link or one-time codes.
- Lawful use. You agree not to use the service to harass others, file frivolous orders, or attempt to circumvent the security of the platform.
5. AI-generated content
The Declaration in Support and parts of the form text are generated by an AI model. AI can make mistakes — it may misinterpret a date, attribute a quote incorrectly, or omit a detail. You are the author of your declaration. Read it carefully before signing under penalty of perjury. You can edit any field through the Form Review panel and re-generate the PDF.
6. Intellectual property
The court forms (DV-100, CLETS-001, etc.) are published by the California Judicial Council and are in the public domain. The DVHelp.ai service, including its interface, system prompts, code, and documentation, is owned by the project maintainers. You retain full ownership of the content you provide and the PDFs generated from it — they are yours to file, print, share, and modify.
7. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using DVHelp.ai you acknowledge that you have read and understood that policy.
8. Termination
You may delete any conversation at any time, and you may delete your account by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate access if we determine in good faith that a user is misusing the service — for example, attempting to harass another user, filing knowingly false orders, or attacking the platform.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
DVHelp.ai is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DVHelp.ai and its maintainers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service — including, without limitation, damages for loss of profits, loss of data, judicial outcomes, or harm caused by reliance on AI-generated content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which for a free service is $0.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DVHelp.ai and its maintainers from any claim arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of the rights of any third party.
12. Emergency disclaimer
DVHelp.ai is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233 (text START to 88788). Do not rely on DVHelp.ai or its support chat in an emergency.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of DVHelp.ai will be resolved in the state or federal courts of California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will surface a notice on the site before the change takes effect, and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of DVHelp.ai after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
